Our skills in evaluation

Evaluation - the 5th "E" - has become an essential part of every new initiative. We can advise on suitable techniques from the selection of appropriate test instruments through to the use of complex statistical analyses.

We can undertake -

  • postal surveys
  • telephone surveys
  • focus group discussions and
  • face-to-face interviews
  • observation studies

We can survey -

  • pupils (from key stage 1 to 4)
  • parents
  • schools
  • parents
  • the general public

We can measure -

  • knowledge
  • attitudes
  • self-reported behaviour
  • actual behaviour

Careful attention to detail at all stages means that we can often exceed expected response rates for surveys.

Our recent work

Our recent work includes -

Road safety initiatives

We worked with a London Borough to evaluate the effectiveness of four initiatives including Junior Citizen, Theatre in Education and Junior RSO.

Public attitudes towards safety (speed) cameras

Speed camera

From 2002 to 2005, we regularly organised public attitude surveys on speed for the Leicester Leicestershire and Rutland Safety Camera Scheme

We have also undertaken larger surveys on behalf of the West Midlands Safety Camera Partnership and the Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership

Road safety publicity

We worked with a local authority to evaluate both its road safety publicity strategy and specific campaigns.

Scrutiny Commission

We were co-opted on to the Scrutiny Commission of a local authority investigating the effectiveness of its investment in road safety.

Review of road safety service

We reviewed the ETP element of the road safety service provided by a large shire county and made recommendations to improve its effectiveness.
